Setting up Microsoft Entourage for Exchange

This article will describe how to setup Microsoft Entourage for an Exchange account.
   Note:
This is for exchange and not a pop/smtp account

This information is specific for Office 2008 (Entourage 12) but will also apply to Office 2004

To setup a new Exchange account:

Open Entourage

From the menu bar, select "Entourage" then click and select "Account Settings"

On the account settings window, ensure "Mail" is highlighted (this is by default)

Click the "New" button on the top left (do not select exchange from the pull down, simply click the icon above new)
Note: In older versions of Entourage, you must actually pull down the small triangle to the right of the icon "new" and select Exchange

A new window will appear asking for the account type. Pull down the chooser and select "Exchange"

Click OK

You will now see a new window where you can enter you account settings
Note: In older versions, you will need to select "Configure Account Manually"
You will only need to enter information for the "Account Settings" tab

For account name, you can enter anything you like, it does not affect the mail settings at all. This will become the name of the folder in your mail window

For Name, enter you Name

For email address, enter your full email address for your account
Do not enter an alias if you have one, you need to use your true email address

Make sure "Use my account information" is selected

  • For Account ID, use your windows account name minus whs\ (this is not your email address).
    • You will have received this with your welcome email
    • For example whs\account_domain.com would be account_domain.com
  • Domain is whs
  • Password is your password

Exchange Server is https://ex.sbwh.net/exchange/your@email.address
Note: enter your actual full email address inplace of your@email.address

  • Check or leave checked "This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL)"
  • DO NOT check "Override default DAV port"

Click the Advanced tab

  • In the Public Folders server: field, enter https://ex.sbwh.net/public
  • Check or leave checked "This DAV service requires a secure connection (SSL)"
  • Do not change any other settings

Click Ok

Close the Accounts window

You will now have a folder that corresponds to the name you chose in the "Account Name" section
Click the folder and in the bottom right of the window you should see a progress indicator.

It will take some time (default is every 2 minutes) but eventually will synchronize your connection.

You may have to use the control button and mouse click over the folder name or inbox and select main window to show all folders.

You should now be set up.
