From our POP3 email partners: January 4th 2010
I want to first apologize for the issues with sending to Hotmail/MSN/Live.com accounts today. We have been in contact with Microsoft to determine how Everyone.net IP addresses ended up being blacklisted with their servers. Upon further investigation, we found that Hotmail received a little over 28 thousand emails from Everyone.net servers. This number is not so unusual given the number of emails accounts Everyone.net hosts. However, Microsoft claims that 2% of those 28 thousand emails were reported as spam. Although Everyone.net does what it can to reduce the spread of spam, there is no service that is 100% spam free. And with 98% of emails being “not spam”, we find that Hotmail blacklisting Everyone.net IP addresses for as little as 2% to be a gross misuse of their blacklisting powers. This has, as you can image, caused any phone calls and emails into Everyone.net support. We are actively working with Microsoft to remove our IP addresses from their blacklist and to rethink their blacklisting policy. We hope to have this issue resolved within the near future and sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.
