In this example we are using the name news, your mail list may be named different.
In this example we use <yourdomain> but you would use your actual domain (e.g. sbwh.com)
In this example <your username> is the name before the @ symbol (e.g support@sbwh.com , the user name is support)
To access this list, please log into http://mailings.<yourdomain>
log in with the username before the @ symbol
You can manage the folder by clicking on the folders link
You will see a folders named:
news (LIST)
news/approval
news/reports
news/requests
If you click on the word LIST, you will be able to administer your mailing list from here. Once in this section there is a link in the upper right “Subscription”
This is where you will administer your mail list subscriptions. Note the import: section. If you export your mail list as a one line per email address from your current mail program, you can them import into this mailing list.
For example the email list should be like:
a@abc.com
b@abc.com
c@abc.com
To send to your mail list, you will need to setup a new account for <your username>@mailings.<yourdomain>
The accounts settings are:
incoming and outgoing server : mailings.<yourdomain>
username: <your username> @mailings.<yourdomain> (Use your full email address including the mailings. part)
to send a mass mailing out, you would need to send to news@mailings.<yourdomain> from within this account or log into the web interface http://mailings.<yourdomain> and send to news@mailings.<yourdomain>
The account is currently set to send to the list from the <your username>@mailings.<yourdomain> account. If you wish to approve all messages before sending, you will click on the LIST link as mentioned above and change the “Posting Policy” to “Accept Postings” moderated.
Make sure to never use from subscribers or any replies to the list will go to all!
To have a link on your site to sign people up or have them removed, follows these stesp:
to subscribe to the list automatically, setup a mail to for news-on@mailings.<yourdomain>
To unsubscribe, news-off@mailings.<yourdomain>
Every mail list sent out will have information on how to unsubscribe to be in compliance with anti spam watch groups such as spamcop and sorbs.
By default we have confirmation set for subscribing to the list. You can turn this off in the “Subscription Policy” and uncheck “Request Confirmation”
From the help page, here is the description of the confirmation policy:
Request Confirmations
When this option is selected, the List manager does not fulfill subscription requests immediately. Instead, a confirmation request message is composed and sent to the address that is about to be included or excluded from the subscribers list. The confirmation request contains a unique identifier (Confirmation ID) in its Subject field. When the user receives such a confirmation request, they can simply use the mailer Reply command to confirm the requested operation.
That is the basics of the mail list service. To find out about advanced settings and more information, here is the help section for mail lists:
